I was, in a way. My parents were struggling to find a name for me, until my Dad was driving home one evening, with the radio on, and *The Archers* came on. There was a young child on the show then, called Adam. Dad thought "ah-ha" – and that's how I got my name.
The character is [still in the show](http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archers/whos_who/characters/adam_macy.shtml), believe it or not.
Adam, scandalous back then as an illegitimate son, is now fighting the progressive battle as the first gay character to get married to his boyfriend in the show. Adam, a farmer, and Ian, a chef, have been happily married for years…
