OK, it's this:
Now, you might be thinking “So, that hotel has two signs. What's the big fuss?” Well, it's not one hotel with two signs, it's two Premier Inns right next door to each other. This is purpose-made to create confusion. Two years ago, when I first stayed in the nearer of the two hotels in the photo above, I (inevitably) went to the other one, where a rather weary member of staff, after dutifully checking the bookings, directed me to the next one down the road.
I wondered if I was just an idiot, but this year one of my colleagues did exactly the same thing.
